MESSAGE
The story of the life of Elisha is jot only incredible but also remarkable. This was a life completely sold out to fulfiling a destiny greater than that of His master. Elisha must have counted the cost and found that what he was pursuruing was worth it everything, so he kept on going until he got.
Waht keeps many people from reaching the topnof their pursuit in the things of God and in their secular life is lack of proper estimation or evaluation required to excell in that area og pursuit. That is why many starts and end up not finishing. Majority of people on earth will tell you how many visions and dreams they have started, done halfway and then abandoned. This is one of the factors that makes the difference between to those who fail and succeed in life.
Jesus our Lord gave us a very important illustration for us believers to understand this matter of estimation which must be applied first to our walk with Him and then to eery other aspects of our lives.
For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it— lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’?
Luke 14:28-30 NKJV
Elisha had counted the cost, for him it is either the double portion of the anointing of Elijah or nothing else. Even if it meant that a one time top business owner will be pourijg water into the hand of a strange prophet, no problem. Even if it meant that he will have to go throuhh the river Jordan, not a problem as long as he it takes him closer to getting what he wanted.
Elisha did not give up on his pursuit even at the last moment. He calmly accepted the insult of the otger sons of prophet. He must have known that He is returning a greater prophet. In the end, Elisha’s persistence paid off and He became father to kings and prophets.
If he had quit, there will no glory for him. There is sadly no trophies for quitters but only the winners receives their reward. Beloved, have you counted the cost of your purusit of God? Until you have done a proper evaluation of this matter, you may end up lossing in the end.
Therefore, fix your eyes on the prize and not the prize. Dont be intumidate by the value of the price but the value of the prize. Do not give up, hang on because you’d achieve greatly in the end.
REFLECTION
How valuable your pursuit is will determine if you will quit or keep going until you achieve your goals.
