But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—

1 Corinthians 1:30 NKJV

MESSAGE

All human race was lost and we all are like sheep having no shepherd destined for destruction until Jesus came into the world and died for our sins. Today, we do not only know Him as our shepherd when we receive Him into our hearts but also as our redeemer.

Although it was Job who said, “I know my redeemer lives” (Job 19:25), it is we who have truly experienced the redemptive power in the blood of the Lamb that has a valid claim to that testimony.

But how did it come to be? God so loved the world that He sent His only Son to the world. But more than the world, God loves you.  You are in the plan of His salvation.  It was because of you that Jesus left His glory and became man. He died for you so that you can live.

Right from the fall of Adam to the last animal sacrificed before the death and resurrection of Christ. All sins were merely covered. This is because the blood of bulls and goats can’t cleanse sin. Only the living blood of Christ can.

It was only Jesus who met the requirement to bear upon Him the sin of the whole world. He became our perfect redeemer who knew no sin, neither did He commit any but He was made a sin for us (2 Corinthians 5:20). Right from Isaiah, the Bible says that God had to place on Him all our iniquity.

Though He was guiltless, Christ took our guilt and bore our sorrows. He became our substitute in suffering and legal penalty for sins. The moment He died, it was all paid in full. The wrath of God in divine justice was met and now we are free from the guilt of sin. We are now God’s children who were not His children, we are now the beloved of God.

Now,  as many who received Him, they have the power to be called the children of God. Jesus had paid the price,  we are at last free and now belong to the family of God.

REFLECTION

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.

Ephesians 1:7 NKJV

The redemption story is God’s purchase of His creation by Himself through the blood of Jesus His Son. We are fortunate to be included as recipients of that favor.

PRAYER

Thank you Jesus for redeeming me from sin back to God.
