Text: 1 Corinthians 1:30
Further Reading: Romans 10:1-13
MESSAGE
Righteous can not be earned by human effort or works but by faith. It is God that makes us righteous in resonse to our complete trust in Him. The Bible recorded that Abraham believed or had faith in God and it was inputed unto Him for righteouness (Romans 4:3).
To start with, you must understand that we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.
Isaiah 64:6 NKJV
Paul in our Bible reading of the day showed the ignorance of the Jewish people of his time trying to establish their own righteousness. They in the process neglected the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
Right from the Prophets, we know that God is our righteousness but when Christ came He made us righteousness.
In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell safely; Now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Jeremiah 23:6 NKJV
How did Christ do it? God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
II Corinthians 5:21 NKJV
This way, anyone who put his or her trust in Christ can have a right standing before God. God does not see such individual through weak human nature again but through the righteousness of His Son, Jesus Christ.
As long as you have given your life to Christ, you can now enjoy the righteousness which is by faith. You can now live without condemnation but in full assurance that God has pardoned all your sin and you are no more God’s enemy but His friend.
Have you handed over your life to Christ? If not, you risk the benefit of being right before God – which means, God still see you as an enemy and is angry with you.
REFLECTION
You are blessed because Christ has made you righteous. It is precious gift, so guard it.
PRAYER
Thank you for making me righteous through the suffering, death, and resurrection of Christ.
