MESSAGE
We live in a world where powerful people dominate the less privileged. They often use their economic power, socio-political, and even spiritual power to oppress others. In short, we live in a world of power. The powerless are often crushed by the ones in power. These cases play out mostly in developing nations where people in political power oppress the masses.
How good will it be if the power is in the hands of the right people some would wish? This is not wishful thinking at all because God has given all power in heaven and earth to one person, and that is Jesus. Because Jesus satisfied the desire of God to save humanity, God conferred all powers to Him.
Our Bible reading today shows that His name is above every other name. At the mention of His name, everything in creation both in heaven and earth must submit to Him. He is the one who has all the power and will rule righteously without oppression.
The good news however is that He has also given His power to believers. He told us in Luke 10:19,
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
The effect of this good news is that we need not fear the power of darkness because Jesus has the power and He has also given us power to pull down the strongholds of darkness and cast down every imagination of the enemy against us through prayer in His name.
The question now is this, are you a believer? Are you a child of God? If yes, Christ has made provision for you to overcome all the powers of the enemy and live victoriously in this world. All you need to do is claim it.
