When The Spirit Stop Striving With A Man

Text: Genesis 6:3 KJV

Further Reading: Genesis 6:1-4

And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

Genesis 6:3

MESSAGE

A man gets to the point where God’s Spirit stop contending with him. This is a state where it is quite clear that such would not yield and would rather continue in his way. The Spirit because of His nature quietly leaves the man alone.

Conviction of sin is one of the ministries of the Holy Spirit to man. He strives with men until they surrender to the will of God in salvation and their subsequent walk with God (John 16:8).

The Holy Spirit continues to guide the Saint in the path of righteousness until he crosses the golden shore (John 16:13).

How long will He strive with you over that matter? Many have perished suddenly without remedy because of their long resistance to the voice of the Spirit (Proverbs 19:1).

But to what limit does God’s Spirit strive with a man? Where does God put a stop to the operation of the Spirit upon a life? For how long will God keep up with this world? Take away the Spirit from the world and it would be great judgment.

Have you heard the voice of the Holy Ghost on that matter and yet harden your heart (Hebrews 3:7,15). Don’t be like Ephraim who clave to idols and got the judgment: “leave him alone”. Are you waiting for God to leave you alone?

The worst state any man can be in is when the Holy Spirit stops striving with him. Whether he is a sinner or a rebellious child, they both end in destruction.

It was a point of no return for the people in the days of Noah. So also it will be for any man who refuses the call of the spirit. Do not wait for God to give you up.

How long have you grieved Him? Has the Spirit given you the mind of God on a matter and yet you stout-heartedly reject His counsel? This is a dangerous path to thread.

If the Spirit should quit over your life, you are sure that judgement will follow. Will you be able to bear the judgement of God?

Are you living in sin and have been warned yet you have refused His counsel? Why should you perish? Consider the love of God to be calling you (Ezekiel 33:11).

Sinner, don’t leave it too late, repent today. Let Jesus come into your heart and save your soul.

REFLECTION

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Ephesians 4:30

This is a call to solemn contemplation, a deep heart search, let God see you and plead the mercy of the Holy Ghost.

PRAYER

Father, please do not let the Spirit stop working upon my life.
