MESSAGE
In our previous lesson, we spoke about walking with God and its reward. We saw how Enoch walked with God for 300 hundred years without faltering.
The question is this, “what assists a man in his walk with God?”. Does he do it by his own power or wisdom?. This is where many believers struggle, they want to walk with God by their own efforts (Zechariah 4:6).
You must avoid this pitfall. Since you are saved by grace, you need the grace to continue to walk with God. Paul scolding the Galatian church spoke to this effect. They have started in the spirit but want to continue in the flesh. If you have begun in grace, then you need grace for the entire journey (Galatians 3:3).
You need the grace to walk with God. It is grace that sustains a believer in his Christian walk. The Lord spoke to Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you”. We must rely on the sufficiency of God’s grace to make us perfect (2 Corinthians 12:13).
Also, it is grace that produces strength when we are weak. Whenever discouragement sets in, we can count on His grace.
Noah found grace with God and it enabled him to walk with God. Grace enables and enhances our vision and desire for God.
Many think they can outgrow grace in their walk with God, this is simply not true. You need grace every day in making many decisions and in facing every temptation satan throws at you. You must climb to the throne of grace to obtain mercy for each new day.
Never forget that you are not of your own self, to go without His grace is to cut yourself from the supply of heaven. You will only wither.
Jesus said if you abide in me (also in my grace), you will go on to be fruitful. Just as the branch can not survive without the vine, so you cannot survive without the grace of God (John 15:6).
It is pride that makes a man think he no longer needs grace. Whatever status you have attained, humble yourself and continue in grace (1 Peter 5:5).
If you want to grow as a believer, it must be in grace. Grace is key to growth. If you are not growing, check yourself. It may be that you now trust your achievements and ability rather than leaning on the grace of God to sustain you (2 Peter 3:18).
Paul showing us the secrete of his ministry explained, “it is by the grace of God that I am what I am”. This is the secret of a consistent walk with God – Walking in grace (1 Corinthians 15:10).
REFLECTION
You need grace to walk with God, you cannot make it on your own.
PRAYER
Father, please give me the grace to walk with you perfectly.
