Rescue The Lost Around You

Text: Genesis 14:14,16 KJV

Further Reading: Genesis 14:1-16

And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan. And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

Genesis 14:14,16

MESSAGE

The Christian code of conduct changes the moment He is saved. Salvation is an all-around package that transforms the man completely. His attitudes and thinking change and as such he no longer play by the old rule of revenge.

In the world system revenge is normal – forgiveness is not an easy trait to come by in people. But not so with a child of God, the Bible teaches us to forgive and where necessary we must help and pray for those who hate and despitefully use us.

Irrespective of past misdeeds, you are expected to render help and rescue a person deemed for destruction as long as it is in your capacity to do so (Matthew 5:43-48)

In our reading portions of the day, Lot has separated from his uncle and had gone to live in Sodom and he is in trouble. Abram did not say, “good for Lot”. But rather he went to rescue him.

Abram shared the mind of God, I.e. not willing that any should perish but that all may come to repentance. He did not judge his cousin rather he went on the rescue mission (2 Peter 3:9).

Jesus the good shepherd would leave the 99 to seek the one lost sheep. Likewise, we must share the same mind. Do not hold on to past mistakes of men but rather go and save them (Luke 15:4-7)

Labour till they are saved in the place of prayer. How do you justify Abram rescuing not only Lot but a sinful Sodom and Gomorrah? Because God’s love for the world not perish is in his heart.

Has your husband or wife gone rogue, are any of your parents deemed for destruction, are your children wayward, or someone you know is running towards hell? Call them back, pray for them until the light of Christ shines in their hearts.

The salvation of your household is important and more than that you are responsible to pray and to preach to them until they have been saved. You are saved to save others.

Don’t allow any to be lost under your watch, even when they have gone far, Jesus still loves them.

REFLECTION

I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

Luke 15:7

PRAYER

Heaven rejoices over a single soul won for God. Labour to bring men out of sin into the light of Christ.

Father, please help me to labour and rescue the perishing ones around me.
