Can God Boast Of You 1?

Text: Job 1:8 NKJV

Further Reading: Job 1:1-12

Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?”

Job 1:8 NKJV

MESSAGE

God is still looking for men to trust, after many disappointments from men with whom He had entrusted His free gifts and grace in the past. In all generations, God searches for a man in whom He can both confide and trust. Oh the great desire in the heart of God when He said, I am looking for a man, I am searching for an intercessor, one who will stand in the gap and please on behalf of sinful men (Ezekiel 22:30).

This longing in God’s heart is still as expressive as it was thousands of years ago, He is looking for a man. Apart from men whom He can trust, God is also looking for unusual men and women whom He can boast of. In short, the Almighty God is looking for a person who will do His will and make the devil indeed the failure that he is.

Let me remind you of this fact, Satan’s strongest argument against God’s children is that they serve God for what they want from God and not because they loved Him.

So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!”
Job 1:9‭-‬11 NKJV

In some ways, this is true, for we have seen people who went back into the world because they didn’t get certain things they except get from God. Such men as Demas went back to the world and forsook the way of the cross (2 Timothy 4:10).

Are you among those who left the church because you didn’t get what you expect to gain from God? Have you backslid because of dashed expectations and you feel you cannot continue to serve God? Is it the suffering of afflictions that made you abandon God and went to serve the devil? You must retrace your steps back as the Lord God is calling you. Just as the Prodigal did in Luke 15:11-32, you must return to your Father.

In our reading of the day, we saw God boast about Job. A man that God Himself testifies to be righteous. Job was not serving God for what he will get from God, but because He loved God. Even when the devil attacked all he had, including his health, Job still worshiped God.

This is the kind of man that heaven is proud of. A man who will still serve God when everything has been taken away. A person who has no conditionality to serve God – a man who God can speak of and testify to his or her faithfulness.

Men like Job are the cloud of witnesses looking down and cheering us on. They have gone ahead to show us that our light afflictions which are for a moment not worth the glory that shall soon be revealed in us.

Let us, therefore hold on to our profession of faith, so that we may be an example of true believers who through all and in all stand for God in our generation. Finally, shall anything separate you from the love of God? Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Romans 8:35 NKJV

Let our minds be fixed, resting upon the rich promises of our God and Savior, Who will both help us and rescue us in hours of need.

REFLECTION

The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant.

Psalms 25:14 NKJV

God will not only boast of you if you wholeheartedly follow Him, but He will also be keeping His secrets with you. This means that you will be getting first-hand information about things that are to happen in your family, city, nation, ans the world.

PRAYER
