And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?

MESSAGE

One major character missing in modern society today is integrity. Sadly, this lack of integrity has crept into the lives of many people who claim to be children of God.

Today you can’t just trust people because everyone seems to have corrupted their ways (Genesis 6:12). We hear disturbing stories of teachers who ought to protect and instil discipline, moral values and characters into the life of students taking undue advantage of them. Business people are no longer faithful in their dealings, backstabbing and blackmailing is a common trend and most sadly many men of the pulpit have soiled their hands with evil, dragging the name of Christ into the mud.

Who can you trust today? It is a question that carries so much weight. If men can’t trust you, how can God? The scripture is written for our instruction so that we may model our lives after the godly examples of some and shy away from the ungodly examples of others (1 Corinthians 10:11-12).

In our text of the day, we saw how God with confidence said, I cannot do this without revealing it to my servant Abraham. This is the greatest level of trust and confidence that God has in this man. Abraham through faithfulness and obedience had earned the trust of the Highest God.

This was a top-secret mission to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, yet God said because Abraham will teach his children my ways, I won’t hide this from him. Can God trust you with the secret of your community? Are you not the busybody Christian always gossiping and painting people in a bad light? Are you obedient and faithful such that God will be able to vouch for you?

Abraham’s relationship with God was so intimate that the Almighty God said, I can’t do this without letting him know. Abraham was no longer a servant but a friend of God. Jesus said to the disciples,

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his Lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

John 15:15

One other man that God confidently spoke about was Job. It was incredible how God confronted the devil with the questions of Job’s integrity and the confidence God had in him that he will not deny God.

If God had trusted men because of their walk with Him, why not you who is above servant and is now called a child of God. Are you truly a child or bastard? If God will do nothing without revealing it to His servants the prophets, why not you a child (Amos 3:7)? Check your relation with God and ask Him to please heal your land it is already broken.

Those who do not have any relationship with God are the greatest losers, such must come to the cross and receive the pardon that God offers today. Jesus saves!

REFLECTION

The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

Deuteronomy 29:29

Are you walking before God in faithfulness such that He shares His secrets with you? Can God trust you?

PRAYER

Father, please give me the grace to walk with You with integrity and faithfulness.
