MESSAGE

We live in the era of so much junky prosperity preaching that has so bastardised the principle of sowing in the church. Those folks who the Bible calls greedy and ungodly have swindled so many people’s wealth all in the name of reaping a larger harvest. Don’t fall victim to such a scheme. Don’t wait for miracle money, work with your hands and God will bless you.

We also live in the time of the famine of the word of God. It is the time when everywhere is littered with dirt and filth but no word of God to satisfy.

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD.

Amos 8:11

This is the time the believer must sow. The seed is the word of God and we must sow it first into the lives of our children and then in our community.

When a person walking with God sows the seed of the word indiscriminately during the famine, God gives increase and blesses the man. Such would never lack fruitfulness in all good works. The Bible admonishes us to preach the word of God both in and out season (2 Timothy 4:2).

Let us consider our text and reading of the day and see how Isaac applied the principle of sowing. The Bible says that even though there was a famine in the land, Isaac sowed. It was a tearful seed to sow because the time of famine is usually characterised by a shortage of food supply. Only a man of faith will dare sow in the famine. It is easier to eat the seed than to sow in famine.

Apart from the fact, that there are usually food shortages during the time of famine, the major difficulty is that land is not yielding harvest. But when a man is in the will of God, the times do not matter because God will still bless him.

Therefore, beloved, the situation of your community may be greatly difficult and the land may seem hard to break but you must not hold back still. Go forward to sow the seed, God will see to it that it grows and you become fruitful in the land.

REFLECTION

But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

2 Timothy 4:5 KJV

If there is any time a believer must preach the word of God, it is now. We live in a time of great famine of the word of God, hence you must do the work of an Evangelist.

PRAYER

Father, I receive the grace and power to sow the seed of the word of God in my home and community.
