Are You God’s Enemy?

Text: James 4:4 NKJV

Further Reading: James 4:1-5

Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

James 4:4 NKJV

MESSAGE

God has no permanent friend and He does not have a permanent enemy. You will be the one to decide who you want to be to God. A sinner who is an enemy today may repent and become saved and become God’s friend. A Saint today if he falls into sin and refuses to repent will turn into God’s enemy (Read Ezekiel 18).

That’s why there is no security for any saint until we lay down our sword at the master’s feet. Don’t follow those who preach eternal security, such men will lead you to eternal perdition.

But do you know that you can profess to be saved and even sanctified, yet you are God’s enemy? The Bible says those who are friends to the world are God’s enemy. Every time you uphold the corrupt values of the world you are setting yourself against God.

It is very sad to see how many who claim to be Christians dress in such a worldly way, they wear short, tight, and sometimes revealing clothes. Many styles their hair the same way as the worldly people do, yet they claim to be God’s friend.

Are you sure you are God’s friend when you speak in such a worldly manner? Are your words filled with grace and seasoned with salt. Are you not worldly by the music you listen to, the movies you watch, the friends you keep?

When I go to some churches today and I see different worldly dances and practices it makes me feel sad. The worldliness in the church is more obvious than her godliness in the world.

Those who will make heaven must draw the line, it is either you go with God or the world. There is no middle ground. We must ask the Lord to renew our minds by His word and the work of the Holy Spirit.

Unfortunately, the world passes away and its lust thereof, but only those who do the will of God will abide forever (1 John 2:17). I will rather be a friend of God than of the transient world. Don’t forget dear believer, that all in the world, fashion, entertainment, music, food and what have you will pass away: they are not worth losing God.

REFLECTION

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Romans 12:2 NKJV

God cannot tolerate any worldly value, you cannot hold on to it and want His favour. You must decide to make a full consecration to God today.

PRAYER

Father, I commit myself to live wholly for You from this day.
