Gratitude

Text: Luke 17:15-16 NKJV

And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.

Luke 17:15-16 NKJV

MESSAGE

Many believers are specialists in complaining. They are always complaining about what God has not done for them. They seldom take time to thank God for the things He has done. They quickly forget that the only reason why they could complain is because God has kept them alive.

The dead cannot praise God. The dead do not praise the Lord, Nor any who go down into silence. Psalms 115:17 NKJV

Recently I went with someone to the hospital and the bill made me thank God for good health and a sound mind. If you consider how many people are lying in the hospital and many living in war-torn nations, you will be grateful.

Whenever someone does something for you, always be grateful. Gratitude attracts more blessings from God. Just as parents will be willing to do more for a grateful Child, so will God do more for you.

In our text of the day, Jesus healed 10 lepers, but only one came back to thank God. That grateful leper was not only healed of leprosy but he was made whole. He got a double blessing because he was grateful.

It is sad to see many who have been saved from their sin not grateful to God for the gift of salvation. How often do you thank God for saving your soul from destruction? Have you thought of what your life would have been if Jesus had not saved you from your sins? Praise and thank God today for His saving grace.

When you are grateful to God for what He has done for you, He will do more for you. Are you grateful to God for all He has done for you? Or are you always murmuring and complaining? Be thankful to Him and bless His name (Psalm 100:4).

A true Christian is not meant to thank the Lord only in good times but also in bad and difficult times. Be grateful to God even when there is no visible reason to praise God. This is because a living dog is better than a dead lion and also there is hope for you. As you praise God, He will fight all your battles and hand over to you the victory.

REFLECTION

Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.

2 Chronicles 20:22 NKJV

The easiest way to win your battles is by being grateful God. Spend quality time to thank God for all He has done for you.

PRAYER

Father, thank you for everything you have done for me. Glory be to your name. Amen.
