MESSAGE
When a new child is born, there is joy in the family. However, when a person is born again, there is a greater joy called the joy of salvation. This is because the Bible says that when a person is saved, there is joy in heaven – I.e the entire host of heaven rejoice with exceeding great joy over a sinner saved by grace (Luke 15:7,10).
This newborn believer gets the same heaven treatment as the time when the Lord was born. Angels and a multitude of hosts of heavens singing and praising God (Luke 2:13-14).
It is this same heavenly joy that is translated into the soul of the converted sinner. He will not be able to define it because it’s from above, and this day becomes arguably the best of his life. A joy that springs up from the knowledge of forgiveness and eternal life in Christ Jesus. He is sure that God is no longer angry with him and that he is now at peace with God.
The joy of salvation is also the joy of adoption. At the moment the believer does not only know that his sins are forgiven but also the witness of the Spirit of God that he is now a child of God (Romans 8:18). He knows that he is no longer a slave to sin but now a child of God who also is an heir of God and joint heir with Christ Jesus.
This is no short-term joy, but one with true eternal value. No one who has ever tasted this joy would ever want to lose. It is important to note however that sin can rob a man of this joy. Therefore, stay off sin and your joy will be full.
If you are like David who was once saved but has fallen into some sin, cry out for mercy like David. Ask God to restore to you the joy of salvation and renew within you the right Spirit that will enable you to do the right things always (Psalms 51:12).
Have you experienced this joy dear reader? If you have not, please humble yourself before God and ask Him to show you mercy. Confess all your sins and put all your faith in Christ and you will also be a partaker of the joy of salvation.
REFLECTION
Beloved, let nothing rob you of the joy of salvation. If you have not yet received this unique joy, ask God in genuine repentance and it will be yours.
PRAYER
Father, please don’t let me lose the joy of your salvation in my life.
