Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

MESSAGE

Have you ever tasted food without salt? If you have, is it delicious that you want more? No is the answer. Any food cooked without salt is tasteless and lacks value, and so also is the world without Jesus, the light of the world.

The Lord in our text of the day referred to believers as the salt of this earth. If you are born again and following Christ, the Bible calls you salt to this Earth. This means that the world as it stands without true Christians is tasteless and valueless.

With all the sinfulness and wickedness practised daily, you will agree that this world needs to be salted. But God will not come down from heaven to do that, He has made you the answer to the problems of this present world – You are the salt of the earth.

You are saved so that you can bring sense and taste into people’s lives around you. The more reason why you must be passionate about living out the life of Christ in you.

One way by which the Bible suggested that you do this is by allowing your words to be gracious and seasoned with salt (Colossians 4:6). You must use your word to bring healing to those hurting, broken, and damaged by the enemy. Now you know why you can not speak just anyhow, but rather allow your speech to salt someone’s tasteless life.

From our reading of the day, we saw the situation of Jericho. Even though the land was pleasant but the water is bad and the land is barren. But when Elijah introduced salt and decreed into the land, divine healing took place on the land.

There are many lives waiting to be salted. Many of who will drown in Hell except for someone’s warnings – are you willing to release life to God so that with you, He can salt many lives?

REFLECTION

And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.

Live the proper life of Christ and your life will sweeten people’s life all around you.

PRAYER

Father, please give me the grace to sweeten the lives of many people around me through my salted words and way of life.
