So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.
Genesis 3:7 NKJV
MESSAGE
There are two major gates to the human soul, the eye gate and the ear gate. Of the two entry points the eye gate is the most dangerous. This is because the human brain can retain what is seen more than what is heard.
The dangerous thing about these gateways is that they are never satisfied.
Ecclesiastes 1:8 says that, All things are full of labor; Man cannot express it. The eye is not satisfied with seeing, Nor the ear filled with hearing.
What you see has the potential to determine what your life becomes. Some people just have a peep into pornography and they became hooked. Others just looked with lust at a woman and became immoral. No wonder one wise man said, “I have made a covenant with my eyes; Why then should I look upon a young woman? Job 31:1 NKJV
The woe of Samson began when he saw a strange woman of the Philistines. He got himself knocked out because he could not control what his eyes see. The devil used this eye gate to lure him into immoral relationships and got him drained of God’s power. The enemy finished Samson by plucking out his eyes.
Let me tell you, if you don’t control your eyes, they will control you and lead you into serious trouble. The Bible told us in our text of the day that when Eve saw the fruit of the tree, she was enticed and ate from it. That singular look became a trap to pull the entire humanity into darkness.
Many so-called Christians today are sitting for countless hours in front of strange pornographic sites feeding their lust. They became hooked and then infidels in their relationships. Such men and women must turn unto the Lord repenting again. He is mighty to save those who will truly come repenting.
Remember, you are not responsible for what you see in public places, but you are responsible to control your eyes and guard your heart with great diligence. Be intentional about the purity of your eyes. Use your eyes to read things that bring glory to God and not feed the lust of the human flesh.
REFLECTION
And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.
Matthew 18:9 NKJV
Never allow your eyes to land you into trouble. Always keep your eyes away from strange things, people, and places. Always wash your eyes in the blood of Jesus Christ.
PRAYER
Father, please help me to keep my eyes pure in this crooked and perverse generation.
