MESSAGE
Anytime God asks Man a question, it is not because He is ignorant about what He is asking. Many times, He is calling the man to take responsibility. When God asked Cain about Abel his brother, it was simply an opportunity for Cain to come straight and confess His faults to God.
We know however that the sinful nature of the natural unregenerate man will not allow him to come straight, he tends to make more excuses than to admit his fault. Such a person will never obtain mercy.
Anytime you make an excuse for sin, you make mercy far away from you. In Genesis 4:11, Cain received a divine judgment instead of mercy, because he will not own up to his mistake. Are you currently living a reckless life and God is asking, Where Are You?
Come out clean and confess your fault to God, He will pardon. There is no hiding place for sinners before God. David said in Psalms 139:11-12, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,” Even the night shall be light about me; Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You.
Where are you, friend? Are you currently in a sinful relationship or dealing in an illegal business? What have you currently engaged in that God is not happy with? This is not the time to play hide and seek but to come out and seek mercy from Lord.
Don’t forget that you can never succeed if you cover your sins. In our text of the day, God asked Adam a similar question but he was hiding from God. Don’t be like Adam, just come to God as you are.
Never allow the devil to whisper into your heart that God will not forgive you. That is a lie, He is waiting for you to plead with Him for mercy and apply the blood of Jesus His son to cleanse you from all your sins (1 John 1:7-10).
REFLECTION
God is ever ready to forgive those who will admit that they are wrong and will plead for His mercy. Are you humble enough to admit your fault and ask for forgiveness? If you are not, then forget about obtaining mercy.
PRAYER
Father, I humble myself before you and confess all my faults to you today. No more hiding.
