MESSAGE
Fathers are to set the direction for their family, but when they go the wrong way, the entire family suffers. When you read the story of lot’s wife and his daughters, many do not know the beginning of their woe. We simply assume that lot’s wife was worldly and his daughters ungodly.
That is half the truth. The problem started when Lot went down to Sodom. It was the first singular error leading to the decay we saw in the lives of his children. This godly family suddenly began to witness the raw ungodliness that is on the array in Sodom.
Today we see a similar trend among fathers who carelessly expose their children to lewd content on the internet, TV, and social media. They will soon reap the fruit of those ungodly materials in the future.
Fathers must stay on guard, especially in this corrupt age, and stand in the gap for their families. The direction you take them will determine what thier future will be like. God is looking for Fathers like Abraham who He can boast of.
In Genesis 18:17-19, the Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.”
Are you such a father like Abraham leading your children to God or are you fuming at them whenever they express their desire to follow God? Your children are your future, leading the wrong way will only bring sorrow to you at the end of your life.
Train them now in the fear of God and you will have rest in your old age.
REFLECTION
Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6 NKJV
Father, train your children, lead your entire family to God, and your old age will be peaceful.
PRAYER
Father, please give the grace to raise godly children for you in this perverse generation.
