MESSAGE
Another man whom God boasted of is Abraham. This didn’t come by chance, Abraham distinguished himself as a man whom God can trust. I want to again emphasize that for God to boast of you, you must earn, and anybody can get to the point.
I am sure you can get to the point where God can trust you because the Bible says that there is no respect of persons with God (Acts 10:34). So, if you do what Abraham or Job did, God will certainly brag about you.
In Genesis 22:12, God said about Abraham, now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.” That was the point when God confirmed Abraham as a man He can boast about. Note, before God can boast of you, you must do what many others will not willing do.
In our text of the day, the God of heaven and earth was bragging about Abraham. God so much trusted this man that He would hide nothing from him. God said, Abraham, will train his children in his ways. This trust came about because Abraham had already trained 318 armed servants in his house (Genesis 14:14-24). He had raised generals who went to the battles of kings and returned with a great victory. Abraham had a worthy track record, what about you?
As a father, can God trust and boast about you that you will train your children? What are you doing as a teacher in school to those innocent children? Are you pointing them to God or leading them astray? If God must trust you with future generations, you must handle the lives He has committed into your hands properly.
Do you know that God did not only boast about Abraham, but He also entrusted the destiny of nations into his hands? You can get to a level in God that He will be entrusting the secrete of your nation to you. But you will have to prove yourselves a worthy servant.
Are you are worthy servant? How are you performing in your duty to Him? To get the blessing of Abraham, you must walk and work in the ways of Abraham who truly followed God wholeheartedly. He was not staggering it stumbling when there was no child, he wasn’t complaining but the Bible says that he was rather glorifying God (Romans 4:17-22).
Is that your life or that of grumbling and irreverence for God when He has not done that thing you hope you should get? You just desire to hold a key place in the heart of God such that He will be able to boast of you.
REFLECTION
Abraham did not only earn the trust of God but he became a personal friend to God. Are you God’s friend? Jesus said you are my friend only when you do what I ask you to do. You can also become God’s friend like Abraham by obeying God’s instructions to the letter.
PRAYER
Father, please give me an obedient heart and the grace to always do your will from today in Jesus’ Name. Amen
