But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light
1 Peter 2:9 NKJV
MESSAGE
When people who know their God does not know who they are in God, they end up not able to do as much exploit for God as they ought to. Your identity matters and knowing who you are will give you the courage to face the hurdles of life.
Life comes with different challenges and those challenges are often there to check if the believer knows his right in God or not. As long as the children of Israel forgot who they are in God and the nature of their God, the roaring Goliath kept on terrorizing and making a mockery of them.
It was until a man who knows God and his identity came into the picture that the enemy was destroyed. Many will continue to suffer in the hands of the devil until they rise and take their position in God.
The Bible says that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is the master of all.
Galatians 4:1 NKJV
What this means is that even though all things have been given to you in Christ Jesus, if you don’t rise to possess them you may die without touching them.
To know who you are, we must go back to our text of the day, God said, But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
I Peter 2:9 NKJV
It was God who has chosen you and has loved you. He gave up His son to die for you and He will also with Christ freely give you all things. The Bible says that God chose you ever before the foundation of the world so that you can be holy unto Him.
That is who you are. You are not an ordinary person if you are born again. God is your Father, an heir of the father, and a joint heir with Jesus. You can pray to your Father and He will hear, that is your right.
Do you know that God wants you to come boldly to the throne of grace and obtain mercy? He promised to give you grace in the time of your need. Let nothing rob you of this identity, spend the best of your time thanking God for who you are in Him today.
REFLECTION
“For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth.
Deuteronomy 7:6 NKJV
You are God’s special person, you are His treasure, you are His choice vessel. Don’t take it for granted.
PRAYER
Father, thank you for choosing me.
