MESSAGE
Pride is first of the heart before its physical manifestation. The proud in heart sets himself against God. This is because God resists the proud but He gives grace to the humble.
In proverbs 16:5, the Bible says,
Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord; Though they join forces, none will go unpunished.
If you want to quickly fall then you can allow pride to fill your heart. The Bible confirms this by saying, Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, Than to divide the spoil with the proud.
Proverbs 16:18-19 NKJV
No matter how high or well-placed a person is, he must he humble or else he will fall. Our text of the days showed us that Lucifer (Satan) fell from heaven. He fell from the height of glory and honor because of pride. You must be careful not to allow your accomplishments or position to make you puff up, rather, be humble.
The Bible asks believers to desire the mind of Christ. The mind of humility that honors God the Father and would not share His glory. Because of this, the Bible says that God lifted and anointed Him and gave a name above every other name. Learn from Christ (Philippians 2:5-11)
If you want to rise, keep a humble heart, and if you want to fall keep a proud heart. You will not need the devil to attack you because pride will automatically make you God’s enemy. If you noticed that there is a trace of pride in you, please ask God to forgive you and grant you a new heart.
REFLECTION
When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom.
Proverbs 11:2 NKJV
Pride will bring shame, avoid every prideful thought in your heart and ask God for the spirit of humility.
PRAYER
Father, please cleanse my heart from every form of pride.
