MESSAGE
Gratitude is sure means to keep the flow of heaven’s blessings within our reach. This is because the Bible says, that the password to enter through the gate of heaven is thanksgiving and to access the court of the most High, praise will do the job (Psalms 100:4).
Just as a grateful child will not lack more nice treatment from the parent, so also will a child of God who is grateful. The natural tendency of man is to complain about the things that have not been done by God, but the true follower of Christ must learn from Him to be grateful.
We must not forget that Jesus is not asking us to do what He never practiced. On many occasions, the Lord showed us how being grateful to God can turn impossible situations around. While Jesus was about performing the miracle of the multiplication of the bread and fish to feed the five thousand people, the Bible recorded that He gave thanks and the miracle took place.
At the tomb of Lazarus, Jesus showed us that even in bad times we must show gratitude to God by thanking Him. The result of that thanksgiving was the raising of Lazarus from the dead after four days.
Are you currently going through certain needs? Are you faced with an impossible situation? The best way to confront such a situation is to thank God. What you are saying to God is this, “I thank you for what you have done for me in the past, I am grateful. I am confident that you will also sort this out.”. Think about it, would you deny such a grateful child a necessity? No father in his right mind would. Yet our Father is far better than any earthly father, He will never let any grateful child of His down.
In our text and reading of the day, the Bible told us the story of the ten lepers and the only one who was grateful to Jesus for the healing he got. While others got healed of leprosy, this man got a wholesome transformation. Just like Naman in the old testament, I believe this man also got a personal relationship with God. He got a double blessing because he was grateful.
Christians must learn from this man. Instead of grumbling about what you don’t have, you should be grateful to God for all the benefits He has bestowed on you. You must join David to say boldly,
Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Psalms 103:1-2 NKJV
REFLECTION
Offer unto the Lord God endless thanks for all He has done, be grateful for what He is doing, and praise Him in advance for what He will do for you.
PRAYER
