And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?

MESSAGE

Marriage is between a man and a woman. although this truth quickly becoming unpopular in today’s world, that does not make it less true. I have often maintained the fact that marriage is beautiful and it not a burden. God designed the marital institution to further His agenda on earth.

In Genesis 2:18, God said, And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
Genesis 2:18 NKJV. God made the woman a perfect companion to the man. She is is to help the man fulfill his destiny. This is why the Bible says any man who finds a wife finds a good thing and has obtained favor from the Lord (Proverbs 18:22).

As a man, your wife is a favor to you by God. Likewise, the woman must see herself as one whom God has made to help the man to live out the best life God has designed for him. To show the divine interest of heaven in marriage, you will notice that the first-ever miracle performed by Jesus in His earthly ministry was performed at a wedding (John 2:1-11).

Although we live at this point in history when many believe that marriage can be between people of the same sex, the word of God remains clear and it is the final authority over the Christian’s life.

Jesus in our reading of the day re-emphasized the obvious fact that God made the male and female sexes and He designed them to be in a marital relationship. Whatever you see today is nothing but an attack from hell against the marital institution.

We can also learn from Christ the mystery of marriage in that when two people of the opposite sex marry, they become one flesh. They become one, they are united in spirit, soul, and body. This means that your husband or wife is a part of you. You must then learn to treat each other well.

The Lord also taught us that marriage is for the earth. While answering the Sadducees, Jesus pointed out that when we get to heaven, people neither marry nor are given out for marriage (Luke 20:27-38).

Finally, the Lord in His revelation to John exposed us to the reality of heavenly marriage. The believers who overcome will partake in the marriage supper of the lamb which God has prepared for all who are redeemed out of this corrupt world (Revelations 19:6-10). This must be your desire, you must anticipate this great event. This means that you must not allow anything to come between you and the Master.

REFLECTION

Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding.

John 2:2 NKJV

Jesus is very much interested in your marriage and family. Anytime anything is lacking in your marriage as it happened at the wedding of Cana of Galilee, you can look up to Jesus to give you fresh wine in your home.

PRAYER

Father, please send sweetness to every marriage that is currently going through a crisis today.
