MESSAGE
There are many people in the world today who do not know God or are still bound by superstition. They worship unknown gods who have eyes but can not see and ears without hearing. Such idols have kept both the young and old bound without light.
The Bible described such people as those who are the in regions of the shadow of death. Without the gospel of power, these category of people will not believe. They will remain bound and nothing you say will be able to change their minds.
That’s why Paul emphasizes that the gospel must be preached with power. People who have been bound by demonic forces must be delivered by the superior power of Christ. In our text of the day, Simon the sorcerer found out that there is a greater power in the gospel.
He even wanted to buy it with money. Imagine if Philip had just preached without the demonstration of the Spirit and power, such person will not be saved.
In Acts 14:8-21, when Paul healed the impotent man at Lystra, many people came to know the true God. Let it be known to you that God wants you to demonstrate the authority of Christ as you preach the gospel. We must not settle for ordinary empty doctrines that has no power.
Jesus said to His disciples, “And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give”. Matthew 10:7-8 NKJV
The church must believe again in the gospel of power, and it must begin with you. We have a precious promise from our Lord that we who believe in Him will be able to do the works that He did while on earth, even greater works shall be done through us (John 14:12). Why don’t we take Him at His word and begin to liberate those who are bound through the power of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ?
REFLECTION
God can do the same with you, but you must thirst for it. God wants to work His wonders through every willing vessel who dares believe His word. Do you believe?
PRAYER
Father, please work with me in mighty signs and wonders as I share the gospel from today. Amen.
