MESSAGE

The story of Joseph is an incredible testimony of how God can take a man from nothingness to greatness. Though he was beloved by his father, Joseph was the envy of his brother. His father tried to lift him but could not. This shows that there is a limit to what a man can do for you to raise you. That is why the Bible says,

It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in princes.
Psalms 118:8‭-‬9 NKJV

Because God can not lift a man that has been made, he simply un-make the person so that no man will boast in his presence. Joseph can not become what God wanted him to become as long as he was with his father. So, Joseph must go down to the pit first so that he can rise.

He must go down to the prison so that He can get to the throne. One thing that distinguished the rise of Joseph from the pit is the presence of God. The Bible says that God was with Joseph everywhere and in everything he does. God also granted him a favor.

From the time he was in Potiphar’s house to the prison, God kept raising Joseph. He was put in a position of authority. God kept lifting him until he got to the throne. It shows that God can take a man from being in the pit to the throne.

But one thing is common with Joseph, God was with him. If God is with you, you can be sure that you will keep going higher. Pray for more of God’s presence today.

REFLECTION

He raises the poor out of the dust, And lifts the needy out of the ash heap, That He may seat him with princes— With the princes of His people.

Psalms 113:7-8 NKJV

Are you in the pit? God can take you up and keep you up. All you need is the presence of God. Ask Him and He will do it for you.

PRAYER

Father, please take me from the valley to the mountaintop in Jesus’ name. Amen.
