True Safety 3

Text: Genesis 20:3

Further Reading: Genesis 20:1-12

But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, “Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man’s wife.”

Genesis 20:3 NKJV

MESSAGE

When I was much younger I was worried about my younger sister with many guys coming around. But later, I had the impression in my heart to pray for her instead of worrying. Thanks to God, she is married today.

I can understand the plight of parents who are worried for their children in this perverse generation, but instead of worrying and trying to police them, you should teach them in God’s way, pray for them, and allow God to take care of the rest. When we do this we would learn the true secret of happiness in family, especially with children in today’s world.

In most cases the things we are worried about losing often slip out of our hands. Job lamented that the things which he feared the most eventually happened to him. That we fear something does not immune from them happening. Also, God is never in fear, God wants us to trust Him with that thing and we go and rest.

In plain English, the Lord wants to fight for you, take care of your fears, and give you rest. When I was reading about Abraham some days ago, I realized that even Abraham had his fears in his early walk with God. It was the fear of death.

Therefore it will happen, when the Egyptians see you, that they will say, ‘This is his wife’; and they will kill me, but they will let you live.
Genesis 12:12 NKJV

If you read the whole of Genesis 12, you will realize that except that God stepped in, Abraham would have jeopardized God’s promises for His life. Even in our Bible reading of the day, we saw Abraham do the same when he went to Abimelech.

Now Abraham said of Sarah his wife, “She is my sister.” And Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah.
Genesis 20:2 NKJV

But in the two cases, we saw how God preserved Sarah because of His promise. God would not allow any of the Kings to touch this woman. These events often touch my heart because it shows how much God truly cares for His children and that He can protect and preserve all that we commit in His hands.

Are you worried about your child or spouse or family member? Stop, allow God to take over the situation and He will work His mighty wonders to see that they are preserved. Do you notice that God had to warn King Abimelech and plague Pharaoh’s house just to preserve Sarah? He can do much more to keep you, your family, and your loved ones. True safety is of the Lord, hand everything over to Him today.

REFLECTION

He permitted no one to do them wrong; Yes, He rebuked kings for their sakes, Saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.”

Psalms 105:14-15 NKJV

God will not let the enemy touch anything that you commit into His hands! Will you commit your all to Him?

PRAYER

Father, please enable me to commit all to You, I know You will keep me and my family safe.
