Do You Want More 3?

Text: 2 Kings 2:9

Further Reading: 2 Kings 2:1-15

And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”

2 Kings 2:9 NKJV

MESSAGE

We will not get beyond the things we want from God. But when we go all the way to desire more divine realities, God is obliged to give. The Bible says that we serve a God who gives liberally and would not scold us for asking (James 1:5). The Bible also says that He gives perfect gifts.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
James 1:17 NKJV

Those who want more from God are those who throw away all excuses to reach the touch of the extraordinary power of God. One man who wanted more and got a man was Elisha. He was a man who will not give any excuse whatsoever even when others were discouraging him.

In our text and reading of the day, we saw how this man’s hunger for divine power made him despise ridicule and shame from his peers. He will not be discouraged even by his master. He kept on going until he got the double portion of the anointing of Elijah.

But the story of Elisha did not end there, the Bible recorded that he doubled the miracles of Elisha. This was a man who later became a father to kings. All those who were mocking him later bowed to him. This shows that when a man gets God’s power, his detractors will have no choice but to bow to God’s power in his or her life.

Beloved, you need God’s power in every aspect of your life. Whether in your business, academic, career, family, job or what have you. This will make you stand out among your peers. The Holy Spirit can make you outstanding like Joseph, Daniel, and his friends, David in every aspect of your life.

Can I ask you again, do you want more? Are you challenged by Elisha’s pursuit of divine reality and its outcomes? You will be amazed that God has more than that because of the dead bones of Elisha, God still raised the dead. The same God can do more with your life if you will desire more of Him today.

REFLECTION

For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, And floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, And My blessing on your offspring;

Isaiah 44:3 NKJV

God’s Holy Spirit can make you do extraordinary things, therefore desire more of His Spirit today.

PRAYER

Father, I won’t settle for less, Holy Spirit fill me until I begin to do great exploits through God’s power in every aspect of my life.
