MESSAGE
Fire is synonymous with the Holy Spirit. You can not separate the Holy Ghost from fire. The Bible recorded that Jesus will baptize the disciples of Christ with the Holy Ghost and fire.
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Matthew 3:11 NKJV
This prophecy was fulfilled when on the day of Pentecost the early disciples were baptized in the Holy Ghost fire.
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.
Acts 2:2-3 NKJV
The effect of that experience made the few Apostles turn the world upside down (Acts 17:6). These early brothers on fire did shake their generation for God. But sadly the fire began to go out of the church as worldliness and materialism began to creep in.
The Laodicean church was a victim of this decay. They were once a church on fire but now they are in between. They are neither hot nor cold. What this church was boasting of is nothing compared to what Christ was offering. He wants them to buy of Him life transformed like gold in the Holy Ghost fire.
Are you not like the Laodecians who have lost their hotness? Could it be that you are no longer hot in the place of prayer, worship, fasting, studying of the word of God, and other spiritual duties as you used to? Have you suddenly become so relaxed and in between? God’s word is charging you to rouse tonight and ask the Lord to set you aflame again. Do not allow that fire to go out, fan it to flame. That grace is in you.
REFLECTION
Sending the fire is God’s business, fanning it to flame is your own business, therefore be diligent to play your part.
PRAYER
Father, please keep me burning for you. Let all your gifts continue to manifest in my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
