MESSAGE
Paul the Apostle noted that before we were saved we were walking after diverse lusts and carnal cravings. This was our position until we experienced Christ’s transformation power.
Among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
Ephesians 2:3 NKJV
These lusts were amplified by Apostle John when he placed them under three perfect categories, namely: Lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life (1 John 2:15-16). These desires of the lower nature place us in direct conflict with God.
Whether it is lust for sex or perverted sexual expressions, the uncontrollable desire of our eyes, or the pride of life, these all represent works of darkness and should not be mentioned among God’s people. Those who are walking in the light can not be partakers in unfruitful works of darkness.
While reproving the church in Corinth, Apostle Paul declared that sexual corruption should not be found among believers. This is because our body is now the temple of God. We can not continue to yield to carnal lusts while we claim to be in the light.
Every lustful habit whether lust for food, power, sex, money, or any form of lust is nothing but darkness and it must not be found in you. To do this the Bible admonishes us to yield our bodies as instruments of righteousness and not of lust.
This implies that this is what we have to do by personal discipline which is instilled in us by the Holy Spirit. But, God will not do it for us but we will muster all strength provided by the Holy Spirit within our inner being to wage war against them.
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Galatians 5:16 NKJV
You must recognize that there will be a constant attempt by the devil to introduce some of these habits into your life, and you must also learn to trust the Holy Spirit to help you stay on top of them.
REFLECTION
You must kill all lustful desires creeping around your life or they will cripple you.
PRAYER
Father, I break every chain of addiction and lust in my life in Jesus’ name. Amen
