Mountain Climbers 2

Text: Matthew 5:1

Further Reading: Matthew 5:1-2

And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him.

Matthew 5:1 NKJV

MESSAGE

God wants us to share intimate relationship with us. It was what He was doing with the first man until sin broke that fellowship. Even when Jesus came to call His disciples, it was a call for them to be with Him, learn from Him, and that He might send them froth (Mark 3:14)

The result after three and half years was that they have become like Jesus. Though they were not educated, the people could recognize that they had been with Christ. But it was a three years of constant sitting and brooding of Christ upon them.

Although many people followed Jesus, only disciples who dare to climb the mountain with Him gets to hear the secretes of the Kingdom. To them He spoke plainly, but to others He spoke in parables.

But without a parable He did not speak to them. And when they were alone, He explained all things to His disciples.

Mark 4:34 NKJV

Mountain top experience with God does not come by parables or dark speeches but in plain language. In Matthew 5-7 and 24, only those who claimbed with Him got the secretes of His kingdom. Notice in our short reading of the day that Jesus did not begin to teach them until they have climbed with him to the mountain.

Do you want to know what God is doing in your time? Then you must climb with Him to the mountain. Away from every distraction and sitting at His feet. This level of personal intimacy should not be occasional but regular in your quiet time.

Finally, be ready to climb with Him. This is because you don’t know when He would love to show you His glory. Peter James and John did and they saw His glory (Matthew 17:1-8).

REFLECTION

And Jesus went up on the mountain, and there He sat with His disciples.

John 6:3 NKJV

Have you learned to sit with Jesus? It may not always be convenient but be willing to climb with Him to the mountain top.

PRAYER

Father, please give me the grace to always sit and learn at your feet.
