Further Reading: Acts 17:1-13

These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

Acts 17:11 NKJV

MESSAGE

Nothing is more potent than the gospel preached in power and demonstration of the Spirit. As scripture puts it,  such gospel is God’s powerful tool for changing lives (Romans 1:16).  Paul as always did not shy away from preaching the simple gospel of life,  death,  resurrection,  and thr dominion of Christ over all things.

This of course will attract persecution as we see in our Bible reading of the day. Paul was highly persecuted for preaching the simple gospel not born from empty words and human philosophies but built upon the foundation of the word of God.

The brethren at Berea are to be much-coveted in their search of the scripture. Although there were noblemen among them,  yet they took the time to check if what Paul was saying was true.  They are the kind of disciples who grow the fastest because their faith does not rest in what a man says but in what God’s word has said.

One thing that caught the eye was their fancy desire for the scripture. The Bible says they study the word of God daily. Can you imagine when they come together and how they can edify one another from the word of God?

Today,  we only have shallow talking and conversation among brethren. This is because they are not daily studying the word of God.  If you watch too much football or movies,  your speech will be football or movie-inclined because out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

What believers who dont study the word of God are missing are the numerous blessings in it. The Bible says that those who study and meditate on the word of God will prosper and have good success (Joshua 1:8). Rather than running helter-skelter,  you can find all the secrets to wealth, success,  and blessing by studying and meditation on the word of God.

REFLECTION

He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

Psalms 1:3 NKJV

Do you want to succeed and prosper? Pay attention to and study the scriptures.

PRAYER

Father, please show me the hidden treasures in Your word and let them launch me into the fulfillment of my purpose.
