Text: 1 kings 3:6
And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
MESSAGE
Today I want to show you the life of a man who received mercy. We saw clearly from our previous lesson how mercy topples money and can disgrace money. Not many wealthy people are alive today, not because they could not afford the best medical support needed to manage their health but because mercy was withdrawn from them. May you never be displaced from the steady flow of mercy in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Money keeps quiet where mercy is speaking? Influence and connections have to give way to a man who has received mercy. David had nothing, he was a mere shepherd boy, but mercy found him and made shepherd over a nation – he became a king, he didn’t lobby, he didn’t bribe anybody, he was not thinking about it but God showed him mercy.
Listen to this man give the summary of his background:
Then went king David in, and sat before the Lord, and he said, Who am I, O Lord God? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto? 2 Samuel 7:18 KJV. Our text revealed that God showed David great mercy. Though he was insignificant, mercy made him great and successful. Mercy took this man who is a nobody and make him a peoples person. May God’s mercy locate us today in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Is it not true that only God’s mercy can raise the poor from the dust and lift the beggar from the dunghill to make him sit princes? It is the same mercy that makes the poor fruitful while the money of the rich failed? The Bible told of the great woman of Shunem in 2 Kings 4:8. She was wealthy and well connected but she had no child until she received mercy. Never underestimate mercy friends, it is far more desirable than money. Of what use is money when a man has a medical defying sickness or could not conceive even with modern fertility procedures?
In Mary’s classic words of praise, she said, God’s mercy is unto them that fear him from generation to generation. He fill the hungry with good, but the rich He sent away empty. (Luke 1:50; 53). Do you fear him? Are you a child of God in a financial crisis and you are about to melt? Be at rest, God’s mercy will locate you this morning. Mary had no money but received mercy, mary was not the only virgin in her time but mercy gave her favour. May the Lord God of heaven show you mercy today in Jesus Name. Amen.
Dear proud rich fellow, humble yourself and seek mercy – have your money given you peace with God, do you have deliverance from sin? Oh, poor wretched soul; though you are rich, yet you are poor; though you gain the world you may lose your soul, why should you die when you can receive mercy? Mercy is calling to you, why not accept His offer of salvation.
You certainly need mercy, not money.

He is the tower of salvation for his king: and sheweth mercy to his anointed, unto David, and to his seed for evermore.
