MESSAGE

Parents play a key role in the life of Children. Though children are God’s inheritance, parents are the caretakers. God has charged the responsibility of raising children in the right way to the parents.

Parents have so much authority over their children. Spiritually they are like the cover to their children. They must be honoured and respected. That is why God gave the commandment that children should honour their parents so that they would have length of days. This is the first commandment with promise (Ephesians 6:1-3).

When we search through the Bible, we would see how the blessings of parents have gone to make certain people great. Take for example, Isaac blessed Jacob and that placed him above his brother Esau. Some children like Reuben who received curses from their parents never knew greatness.

Parental blessing is more crucial in marriage. Those blessings are prophecies – they go ahead into the future of the young couples. They are joyful blessings, especially from the mothers. Therefore don’t miss these blessings for any reason. The more reason why it is dangerous to steal a bride.

In our text of the day, the parent of Rebekah blessed her. They prophesied that she would be a mother of many and that her seed would stand up to their enemies in the gates. They were no prophets, but they had just pronounced with precision a part of God’s covenant to Abraham in Genesis 22:17.

Don’t say, but my parents are not believers. The only reason why you are a believer is because they gave birth to you. Though Rebekah’s parents do not know the God of Abraham, yet He guided their tongue to speak the blessings of Abraham into her life.

If God blessed the first marriage, why should you miss the blessing of parents during your marriage?

Beloved child of God, ensure that you receive this blessing. The folks in the world may say it does not matter, but you are not of the world.

REFLECTION

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

God was the Father of the first married couples, and He blessed them. The more reason why you must receive the parental blessing during your marital process.

PRAYER

Father, Please use my parent to prophecy generational blessings into my life and family at the time of my marriage.
