MESSAGE
How do you know God? So many Christians ask this question, therefore, we must take our guidance from His word. Jesus said in Matthew 11:29 that we must learn of Him. We also know that Jesus is the author and the finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
To know God you must come through Jesus. The Bible says in John 14:6 that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and there is no other way apart from Him. Simply put, you must be born again (John 3:3,7). This will mark the beginning of your relationship with Him.
Once you are sure of your salvation, then you must begin to seek Him with all your heart until God becomes the center of your attraction. Jeremiah 29:13-14 says that you find Him when you seek Him with all your heart. You must be passionate about the Lord.
David was one such passionate seeker after God. In Psalms 27:4, he said, One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple.
You must hunger and thirst after God, then will you be satisfied with His presence and power (Matthew 5:6). David again expressed how His soul thirsts and pants for God. David was hungry after Him. His ultimate desire was to see God face to face (Psalms 46:1-2). You wonder why God called him a man after His heart. This kind of longing for God did not stop there because, in Psalms 84:10, he said again,
For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
This is the attitude of any man who wants to know this God. It must be a desire to be with Him always. Stay with Him in the place of prayer. The more you pray, the closer He draws you. The Bible says that deep calls unto deep. Furthermore, our God is Spirit and you must be spiritual, not superficial in your worship and learning of Him.
You must however note that the more you know the little you know of God. If a man of Paul’s stature was still desirous to know Him (Philippians 3:10), So knowing Him is progressive and it will keep happening even into eternity.
REFLECTION
Miracles and blessings are in God, find and seek God and your miracles and blessings will begin to abound.
PRAYER
Father, please help me to seek after you with my whole heart from today so that I can know you more.
