Moreover David said, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you!”

1 Samuel 17:37 NKJV

MESSAGE

In all things, the Bible says that you should give thanks because it is God’s will in Christ Jesus concerning you. Never allow your problems to becloud your sense of appreciation. Never forget that when there is life, there is certainly hope.

This year may be a very difficult one for you, you might have faced very tough times during the cause of the year, yet you can be grateful because you still have a breath of life in you. Certainly, there is hope for you, because the Bible says so.

“For there is hope for a tree, If it is cut down, that it will sprout again, And that its tender shoots will not cease. Job 14:7 NKJV. Even if you are currently at the hospital or in any bad state right now, I want you to count your blessings and praise the Lord with your whole heart.

The Bible further says in Psalms 150:6 that because you have life, you should praise the Lord. You only need to humble yourself to know that it’s been the Lord watching over you throughout the year, and He is worthy of praise.

Your story does not end with that situation and you must be confident that the same God who did it for you in the past can bring you yet another great victory. This was the testimony of David in our reading of the day. He began to count the previous victories that the Lord had given him over the lion and the beer, and it was on the strength of those previous blessings that He was able to conquer the enemy.

The next year has its challenges, and maybe even more dangerous than those of this year. Therefore, by counting your blessings, your heart can be fixed on God’s ability rather than the giant that may come before you in the next year. If you do not want to be defeated but rather walk in victory, you must learn to count your blessings and thank the Lord for coming through for you.

Never forget that it was not your might or power that brought you this far but God. So, praise Him so that He can finish His good works in you.

REFLECTION

Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven! For His mercy endures forever.

Psalms 136:26 NKJV

Instead of grumbling about the things that went wrong during the year, fixate your thoughts on the goodness of God to you and your family. If you do so, you have many reasons to praise the Lord.

PRAYER

Father, thank you for your goodness over me and my family this year.
