MESSAGE
Recently one of my brothers was speaking about a young gospel minister who was proud. As he continued to explain how this young man exhibits pride, I metaphorically said “he is planning to die”. What I meant was that that fellow is planning to finish his ministry. Well, as my brother said, that young man is no longer relevant in ministry today.
Anyone who wants to commit ministerial suicide should go the way of the proud. That fellow will eventually die before he actually does (Acts 12:20-23). The Bible says that God gives graces to the humble but He resists the proud. The proud man has God for His enemy and who can help such a man?
Take a look at Herod, the man who refuses to give glory to God. He became food to the worms. He basically finished his life because he gave no glory to God. If you are a minister of God or you are doing something for God, people will praise you, but you must learn to ascribe all the glory to God.
As majestic as King Nebuchadnezzar was, the pride of his heart took in from the throne to the bush. He became so mad that some animals were better than him. Listen to his final message to the proud:
Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all of whose works are truth, and His ways justice. And those who walk in pride He is able to put down.
Daniel 4:37 NKJV
Note, a man may be humble voluntarily or be forced to be humble. A wise man will choose the first option. You don’t want to fall because it is better never to rise at all than to fall. My prayer for you is that God will grant you a humble heart and you may you never fall in Jesus’ name.
REFLECTION
Pride kills before time, stay humble.
PRAYER
Father, Please help me to stay humble so that I can keep rising in you.
